Heading into Winter

We’ve had some amazingly mild weather the last few days, with the forecast predicting days in the 60’s. It’s not rare to have these bursts of warm weather in October and November, but they are by no means dependable.

It causes a kind of sneaky anxiety, knowing it won’t last and we are sure to have months of cold weather ahead. I ease the anxiety by looking forward to good skiing. Frankly, I don’t know how people who don’t enjoy some kind of winter recreation get through our long winters.

A lot of my friends and family talk about moving to places where there is no “real” winter, but I love having four distinct seasons. Mountains are meant to have snow.
